SURE FEELS GOOD

by Paul Jones/Gary Fletcher

Feelin’ rough from last night, I had a few friends in

I still got up early, had to work on that engine

My T-Bird is my joy & my pride

When I lift up the hood and get my hands inside

That sure feels good (sure feels good)

Good to me (sure feels good)

Under the hood (sure feels good)

Where I like to be (sure feels good)

Saturday’s my day to play an’ I’m free (sure feels good)

I’ve finished on the engine, start workin’ on the shine

Don’t stop for lunch, I keep watchin’ the time

Maybe it’s hunger make my stomach tight

Or maybe it’s ‘xcitement ‘cause I’m thinkin’ ‘bout the night

‘n it sure feels good (sure feels good)

Either way (sure feels good)

Ooh good (sure feels good)

Come what may (sure feels good)

Somethin’ tells me this is gonna be my lucky day (sure feels good)

Finished on the car, start working on myself

Got to look good and be a picture of health

Bottle of suntan, ice cream suit
Find myself somebody real cute

An’ it sure feels good (sure feels good)

Cruisin’ around (sure feels good)

Sure feels good (sure feels good)

Oooh, so good (sure feels good)

I’ve got the soft top down (sure feels good)

Tape deck blastin’ out some rockin’ sounds (sure feels good)

Now it’s early Sunday morning, what went wrong?

I think I might have come on too strong

I opened the door, I said "Get inside,

Let yourself slide across the hide"

And you’ll sure feel good (sure feels good)

She said "No" (sure feels good)

I said "I think you should" (sure feels good)

She said "No go" (sure feels good)

Something tells me it’s time for me to blow (sure feels good)

But I still feel good (sure feels good)

Out on the street (sure feels good)

But that dream baby (sure feels good)

I just ain’t gonna meet (sure feels good)

Well I guess I’ll try my luck again next week (sure feels good)

‘cause I sure feel good (sure feels good)etc.

LEAVING

Lyrics & Music by Dave Kelly, additional music by Pete Filleul & Tex Comer

Leaving, I never thought it would end this way

Leaving, my bag is packed now all I have to do is walk away

Leaving nothing left to say, can’t stay

Wouldn’t do any good to stay anyway, I’m leaving

Crying, there’s nothing more inside

I’m all cried out from crying for the love that’s been denied

Crying so many bitter tears

I still taste the salt on my face from so many years of crying

You never knew just how much I loved you

I don’t know just what you loved in me

Now to both our cost

What we once had found is lost

The only road is to set each other free

But can this ever be

Grieving, gotta leave this pain behind

Walk on out, step out of that life and slowly ease my mind

The changes as we move from day to day

Changes so small we don’t take them on board

Until today …. I’m leaving

THE CAT

by Gary Fletcher/Hughie Flint/Paul Jones/Dave Kelly/Tom McGuinness

Said she had a headache, feeling under par

When I spied her with a rider in a big fine car

What's it all about when a woman acts like that

Didn't know who to kill - him her me or the cat.

Walking drinking thinking got home about four

Saw his Lincoln - lights blinking parked outside my door.

What's it all about when a womam acts like that

Didn't know who to kill - him her me or the cat.

It's the last straw [repeat x 2]

And it finally broke the camel's back

I didn't know who to kill etc etc

WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT ??

COLD EMOTIONS, FROZEN HEARTS

by Dave Kelly/Gary Fletcher

He could never say that she wants to hear

She no longer does the little things that he holds so dear

They both provide, but both just take

They never share, that’s their mistake

Cold emotions and frozen hearts

They're strangers

living together apart

They ask no questions, get told no lies

Yeah, the shutters are down, no light in their eyes

Bound till death by that ancient vow

But realise they’re dying now

Oh from those

Cold emotions and frozen hearts

They're strangers

living together apart

But as summer comes, as the seasons change, they’ll both be swept away

The flood water’s going to burst that dam that they built day by day

And they’ll be nothing left once the waters flow

like the spring tide beating down that door of those

Cold emotions, frozen hearts

Cold emotions, living token parts

Cold emotions, broken hearts

They're strangers

living together apart

So all you people, if you have a love

You keep it warm, keep it cooking, keep that temperature above

Thirty two degrees before the freezing starts

The frost on the windows, the icy blasts and

recriminations and frozen love

Cold emotions, frozen hearts

Cold emotions, living token parts

Cold emotions, broken hearts

They're strangers

living together apart

DON’T BUY THE POTION

by Gary Fletcher

Standing on the corner, watching the world go by

Tall dark & handsome, you don’t even have to try

A success with the ladies, big with the boys

His threads are expensive, he’s in executive toys

Waitin’ in the shadows, standing on up the street

are the family connections, the men you never meet

Short term investment, a long term smash

No credit, no cheques, it’s all done in cash

Your toe in the water, won’t make a splash

But there’s no turning back, it’s a one way dash

Don’t buy the potion

Don’t buy the potion

Don’t buy the potion

You’ll be sorry you ever did

Don’t buy the potion

Don’t buy the potion

Don’t buy the potion

You’ll be sorry you ever did

Stealin’ & a-dealin’, rockin’ & reelin’ all night

Duckin’ & divin’, tryin’ as hard as you might

You’ll get there the first time, you don’t take a lot

To go for the second’ll take more than you’ve got

You’ll never get back to where you wanna be

You ain’t gonna make it and you just can’t see

Don’t buy the potion

Don’t buy the potion

Don’t buy the potion

You’ll be sorry you ever did

Don’t buy the potion

Don’t buy the potion

Don’t buy the potion

Worse thing you ever did

Don’t buy the potion

Arrest the motion

Don’t buy the potion

Worst thing you ever did

Don’t buy the potion

Don’t buy the potion

Don’t buy the potion

You’ll be sorry you ever did

FIND YOURSELF ANOTHER FOOL

by Tom McGuinness/Lou Stonebridge

Chloe Songs Ltd.

Find yourself another fool

Ain’t gonna be round to be treated cruel

Here’s what you gotta understand

Get yourself another man

Find yourself another fool

Find yourself another clown

Ain’t gonna be here to be pushed around

Search this land from east to west

You’ve had the best, now try the rest

Find yourself another fool

I used to smile all the while

Till I met you

Now I’m cryin’ all the time

I’d better forget you

‘cause you’re messin’ up my mind

Just wasting precious time

Have I got news for you

Our love affair is through

Go find yourself another fool

Ain’t gonna be round to be treated cruel

Now I can’t hear you when you call

My bag is packed, it’s in the hall

Find yourself another fool

THE GREAT CRASH

by Tom McGuinness

Chloe Songs Ltd.

Champagne on the table

Cigar in my hand

Everyone could tell

I was a mighty mighty man

Folks all want to know you

when your pocket’s filled with cash

But when the money’s spent,

bills are overdue,

it’s hard to find a friend

who’ll even stand a beer for you

No-one want to know you

when your fortunes take a crash

Take care of the money that you make

‘cause all too soon it’s gone

Beware of those friends that want to take

every hard-earned cent that you’ve won

When you’re on the rise

folks can’t do enough

When you’re on the slide

times’ll get real tough

No-one wants to know you

when your paper money turns to ash

VELOCITY & LOVE

by Dave Kelly

I’ve been driving with the blues

Been surfin’ the radio trying to avoid the news

Keep that foot hard to the floor

I’m drifting the bends, right on the limit

‘til my tyres won’t take any more

Big yellow moon lighting my way

and I’m driving in the groove

Miles fly by under my wheels

Bringing me home, bringing me home to you

I keep thinking ‘bout the words she said

No matter how fast I drive I can’t drive them out of my head

This road I’m travelling is wild and bleak

But nowhere near as bleak as I felt

When she told me what she told me last week

Said there’s nothing I can do to help your loneliness

Ain’t nothing you can do to help mine

We’ve been here before and I don’t know

If we’re gonna make it, if we’re gonna pull through this time

Ain’t it funny what love can do

Just when you think you’ve got it down

It turns right around on you

Thoughtless actions, unkind words

The sound of my wheels is the sound I live with

And the loneliest sound I’ve heard

Watching for cops, only stopping for gas

Heaven and earth I’ll move

Big yellow moon, keep lighting my way

Still driving in the groove

Keep those miles flying by under my wheels

I gotta get back, gotta get back, gotta get back to you

WHAT DO YOU WANT?

by Gary Fletcher/Paul Jones

What do you want, do you want from me?

What do you want? Tell me, tell me please

I ain’t got too long, What do you want?

I ain’t gotta lot of cash, I guess it can’t be that that you need

An’ in any case you look as if my money would be chicken feed

Oh now please don’t try to tell me you wanna be my friend in need

What do you want? Get it off your chest

What do you want? As if I hadn’t guessed

I ain’t got too long, What do you want?

I know my conversation’s snappy but I guess it ain’t the social kind

An’ I think it’s wishful thinking to think you might be thinking of my mind

‘n in any case you wouldn’t even know it if it jumped you from behind

What do you want that I can provide?

What do you think you shouldn’t be denied?

I ain’t got too long, Baby what do you want?

I get the kind of feeling you’ve been planning us a meeting some time

But I’m kinda confused at what you want me to do, give me a sign

My question’s still waiting an answer, You’re side stepping like a dancer

What do you want?

What do you want, do you want from me?

What do you want, tell me please

I want to be alone, what do you want?

What do you want? Get it off your chest

What do you want? As if I hadn’t guessed

I ain’t got too long, Baby what do you want?

I ain’t got too long, Baby what do you want?

I said I ain’t got too long, tell me what do you want?

SO BAD

    by Gary Fletcher/Paul Jones/Dave Kelly/Tom McGuinness/Rob Townsend

Now the alarm clock sure is busy

It sounded so piercin’,

interruptin’ one helluva dream

Wish you were here to share it

But I got to grin & bear it

Mornings can be so mean

I get to work so hazy

My boss says I’m lazy

But I’m crazy, baby, barkin’ mad

I wanna hug you

I wanna squeeze you

I wanna bug you

I wanna tease you

I wanna love you

I wanna please you so bad, so bad

Now I’m crazy ‘bout the feelin’ when

I’ve had a hard day’s wheelin’

An’ I’m on my way back to you

We could be out a-moochin’

Or stay home hoochie-coochin’

I don’t mind what we do

I’ve gotta get to first base

Gotta have that first taste

Baby it’s a natural fact

I wanna hug you

I wanna squeeze you

I wanna bug you

I wanna tease you

I wanna love you

I wanna please you so bad, so bad

You think that you’re the greatest

I’m tellin’ you the latest now

I’m no. 1 on her list

We’ve got to get this straight

Before it gets too late

You had your shot and you missed

So come & tell us baby

No perhaps or maybe

Is it him or me that you’ll have?

I wanna hug you

I wanna squeeze you

I wanna bug you

I wanna tease you

I wanna love you

I wanna please you

Turtle dove you

I wanna seize you

I wanna love you

I wanna please you so bad, so bad

SWEET TEMPTATION – THAT WAY LIES THE BLUES

by Benny Gallagher/Tom McGuinness

Chloe Songs Ltd.

I know what you’re thinking

I’m thinking it too

This thing’s got to stop

or we’ll end up acting like fools

You say your apartment

is just two blocks away

If that’s where my heart went

I’d be tempted to stray

Such a sweet temptation

but I’m gonna refuse

‘cause I learnt my lesson –

that way lies the blues

Such a sweet temptation

Now my heart stands accused

I don’t mind confessing

That way lies the blues

When I was a younger man

I could never say no

I was led by my heart

wherever it wanted to go

Can’t say I got wisdom

but I know I got pain

Tonight might be right

Tomorrow I’d be guilty again

Such a sweet temptation ……

ULTIMATUM TIME

by Gary Fletcher/Paul Jones

These things you’re doin’ you’re doin’ to please your ego

An’ I ain’t taken in when you say you want to be my amigo

You’re so proud of your crowd, all your friends all talkin’ so loud

Well you can keep all of them but I tell you this, you’d better let me go

It’s ultimatum time come around again

If you’re competing with the women

I’m going to gamble with the men

This fussin’ & fightin’ is getting’ to be a treadmill

I don’t know what’ll cure it but I don’t think hidin’ under my bed will

I tried to do all I knew but I still ain’t got a clue

What’ll help what you do? You think that takin’ all of my bread will

Now it’s ultimatum time come around again

If you’re competin’ with the women

I’m going to gamble with the men

Look out of that window, I think it’s nearly twilight

An’ your silence tells me I don’t have to ask Am I right?

You can be what you please but if you want to stay with me

You’ve got one more chance left, you’d better straighten up and fly right

Because it’s ultimatum time come around again

If you’re competing with the women

I’m going to gamble with the men

It’s ultimatum time come around again

If you’re competing with the women

I’m going to gamble with the men

 HELP ME

by Gary Fletcher

I’ve been waiting for the good times to come on in & roll

I’ve been waiting for the good times that the future might hold

I’ve been holding on to what we’ve got

Sometimes I think that ain’t a lot

I’m so scared it’s as good as it gets

I guess I’m alone, just don’t know it yet

I’ve been praying that the bad times are way behind me now

I’ve been saying those old bad times can’t hurt me no how

Thinking like that well it sometimes helps

I’m just trying to make some sense

I’ve tried so hard to give you your space

Well I guess we live together in a separate place

Help me, give me your hand

Hold me, can you understand

that I need you & I’ll do what I can

to keep us together

and make some sense of what is meant by love

I’ve been hanging onto old times when you & I were young

I’ve been hiding in the old days, together we were fun

I realise how much we’ve changed

It’s taken time and so much pain

There’s things that hurt me, I know they hurt you too

But we’re too long together now, there’s too much to lose

Help me, give me your hand

Hold me, can you understand

that I need you & I’ll do what I can

to keep us together

and make some sense of what is meant by love

WATCHING THE FIRE

by Dave Kelly

I’m just watching the fire burn out

Sitting watching the fire burn out

As the embers die, some sparks fly to the sky above

And the years go by I still thrill to your sweet love

Tired and watching the fire burn out

I’m sitting here in the dark

Watching the last few sparks

After making love with you, it leaves me with a warm glow

Love as we do, I’m never gonna let it go, just let it flow

Sitting watching the fire burn out

And Oh can you ever know just what you mean to me

And I can’t let this time pass by without I show the need in me

Although I know you’re reading me

So I’m watching the fire glow gold

In the morning grey ashes cold

Will be swept uot of the door and scattered on the garden

But that’s no metaphor, our hearts will never harden

(I never promised you a a rose garden)

I’m happy watching the fire burn out

WHO’S RIGHT, WHO’S WRONG?

by Gary Fletcher/Paul Jones

Do you realise it’s getting’ light?

We spent the last five hours tryin’ to decide (Who’s right & who is wrong?)

Before this affair drops out of sight

Can you see any room for a compromise? (Who’s right & who is wrong?)

I won’t sleep a wink tonight

until I know who’s wrong and who’s right

So tell me who’s right and who is wrong?

Who’s right and who is wrong?

How long can this go on?

Who’s right and who is wrong?

I’ve got this feelin’ inside, a need to be justified

I know you feel the same, got to have someone to blame

We’re out o’ wine & we’re out o’ smokes

My eyes are bloodshot, my brain is a hoax

The air’s full of ifs, the ashtray’s full of butts

An’ I’ve still got this feelin’ in my guts

It’s down deep inside, a need to be justified

I know you feel the same, got to have someone to blame

Who’s right and who is wrong?

Who’s right and who is wrong?

How long can this go on?

Who’s right and who is wrong?

Now tell me who’s right and who is wrong?

Who’s right and who is wrong?

How long can this go on?

Who’s right and who is wrong?

Who’s right and who is wrong?

Who’s right and who is wrong?

How long can this go on?

Who’s right and who is wrong?
