 Message from Gary, February 2002:

I’d like to thank all those people who either came to The Blues Band show at the Landmark in Teddington back in Oct 2001 or sent messages of support, donations to the benefit fund etc for my son Jack who had such an awful accident last September ... see further below for details. (Some of you may have in fact met Jack when he stood in for Danny Townsend on the merchandising stand last summer).

I have, of course, thanked those people who I met on the night or have seen since at gigs but I know there are many, many others who have been thinking of Jack and my family from that time onwards who I will perhaps never meet or have an opportunity to thank personally. So….THANK YOU!  All your thoughts, wishes, prayers and help are very much appreciated by us all in the Fletcher clan - we are very lucky to have such wonderful support.

On the night of the gig several people asked me about the song in the set that I'd sung solo.  This was written in the weeks following 8th September, when Jack’s accident happened, and when of course the events later that same week occurred in New York, and it perhaps requires no further explanation than the title …. World Gone Crazy. When the band toured in Nov/Dec 2001 with The Manfreds we didn’t have time to do the acoustic set so I hadn’t done the song again until the recent BB-only gigs. I was delighted with the reaction of the audience to the number and also the interest shown in the song, reflected in people’s comments during the post-gig album signing session. After the benefit gig I did say, perhaps rather optimistically, that I’d record a version and have it put it up on the BB website. Well some five months on I’ve finally managed to get my finger out and commit the song to tape and, as threatened, it can be heard in a variety of forms, including MP3, by clicking on the song titles below. I have no plans to release the song commercially. A copy of the lyrics is included below also.

Download of this song for the website visitor’s own enjoyment is free. Commercial copying, distribution and all other forms of commercial exploitation are expressly prohibited. (Radio stations please contact AroneWeb for a radio media copy for airplay if required).

The recording, music and lyrics are copyright control Gary Fletcher, February 2002.

In ‘Real Audio’ player format there is a 60 sec sample clip available which is a modest 248KB size file: World Gone Crazy clip

Also available in ‘Real Audio’ player format is a full length version of the song, 1196KB size file: World Gone Crazy

The above clips are both low resolution files (32Kbps) in order to make internet transfer as quick as possible so the audio quality is OK but not hi-fi quality.

If you would like a higher resolution version an MP3 format copy is available for download by clicking on: World Gone Crazy 128kHz

As usual with MP3s this is a large file (4628KB) and will take some time to download via a standard modem internet connection. ADSL users can, of course, download the file in a few minutes. This is, however, a CD quality copy.

World Gone Crazy

My world done gone crazy

Since I last seen my friends

(The) Whole world’s gone crazy

Too many lost good friends

Well there ain’t no rhyme nor reason

For the pain that comes around

It only takes a moment

For your world to break down

Don’t say tomorrow

What you can today

Don’t do tomorrow

What you can today

Well there ain’t no commitment

Beyond the here and now

We can dream of the future

But we gotta live today somehow

World done gone crazy

Since I last seen my friends

(The) Whole world’s gone crazy

Too many lost good friends

Well there ain’t no rhyme nor reason

For the pain that comes around

It only takes a moment

For your world to break down

We can dream of the future

But we gotta live today somehow

Don’t do tomorrow

What you can today
